"USING FINITE ELEMENT METHOD TO DETERMINE THE EFFECT OF FASTENERS ON FATIGUE BEHAVIOUR"@en . "Fatigue is one of the most common failure modes of structures and components. This problem is a most significant in transport and especially in aircraft industry. The behaviour of fatigue crack may be affected by mechanical factors such as stress state, load, frequency as well as environmental effects like corrosion and temperature. The prediction and assessment of fatigue cracks propagation in real engineering structures and components have to take into accounts realistic boundary conditions. The purpose of this paper is to describe the technique of modelling fasteners using FEA and to demonstrate its accuracy and capability by examining some examples of practical significance, such as crack propagation in the main fuselage stringer. This technique was developed by the Strength Reliability Department of the Aeronautical Research and Test Institute (ARTI) in Prague."@en .
