The prediction and assessment of fatigue cracks propagation in real engineering structures and components have to take into accounts realistic boundary conditions. The purpose of this paper is to describe the technique of modelling fasteners using FEA and to demonstrate its accuracy and capability by examining some examples of practical significance, such as crack propagation in the main fuselage stringer.
