"Nowadays, many technical solution for removing of contaminants are based on the power of microbial consortia (in the biodegradation of contaminants or a combination of non-biological solutions and polishing supported by biological processes (enhanced natural attenuation, ENA)). It turns out, however, that one of the main weaknesses (in general) is a total absence of appropriate tools that can facilitate the description of complex biological processes in subsurface, underground water, but also in engineering units built on the consortium settlement systems (eg sewage treatment plants, biofiltration, etc.). This project aimed to exploit the potential of material nanotechnology products, modify them and grasp in a way that will benefit in three areas: A - diagnostic and monitoring practices: special samplers consisting of nanomaterials will be placed in hydrogeological objects (as well as in surface water resources) and after sufficient time removed and analyzed for microbial colonization (requires maximum versatility and/or diagnostic selectivity and accurate knowledge of the colonization behavior of microorganisms on the basis of applied research in a well-controllable laboratory units) B - conservation practice: well adherable carriers will be used to support the microbial biomass, which subsequently undergo lyophilization preservation, as follows preserved microbial cultures (mixed and axenic) would enormously simplify the practical application (prerequisite compatibility solutions in the plane carrier - biomass - lyophilization) C - Technical experience: develop such carriers which will be used as a filling with reliable technological consortia for degradation of volatile pollutants or transformation of inorganic compounds - hydrogen sulphide systems biofilters, trickling filters and scrubber- almost unresolved topic with great practical potential (prerequisite for achieving competitive advantage of complex carrier of nanomaterials)"@en .
