"1"^^ . "This project aims at using medium-chain fatty acids as the alternative for feed antibiotics in farm animals nutrition. These fatty acids and their derivatives have significant antibacterial, antiprotozoal and antiviral activity. We intend to test effectsof these substrances on diarrhoea-causing bacteria, various bacterial groups in the intestine, oocyst shedding, health status and performance of chickens, rabbits piglets and calves. In most active fatty acids the effect of adsorption on solid particlesand the adaptation effect will be examined, as well as the effect of the form of a fatty acid (free vs bound). In animal species mentioned the optimal concentration in feeds and optimal length of feeding will be assessed. In digestibility trials, effects of fatty acids will be determined. The results of this project would be useful for farmers, feed manufacturers and for the fat/oil industry."@en . "2"^^ . . .
