"The main objective of the project is to obtain improved apple genotypes with stable resistance against the most important diseases and to improve methods of their selection. Durability of the resistance against scab (Venturia inaequalis) will be attainedthereby; that two different genes responded for this resistance will be jointed into single genotype. Besides, the resistance based on Vf gene will be combined with that one from genotypes, which are resistant to new races of scab (no. 6 and 7). Furthermore, the resistance against scab will combined with resistance against apple mildew (Podosphaera leucotricha) and a polygenic tolerance to the mildew with the resistance against this disease based on major genes. Aside from the development of new applegenotypes with a complex resistance a topic of the research will be also new methods of selection in early phases of seedlings, accelerating of breeding cycle and application of molecular markers in the selection."@en . .
