"The final aim of the project is to develop a sensor of magnetic field based on magnetoresistive structures of three types: a) metallic Fe/Cr multi- layers (epitaxial), b) Fe/(FeSi) multilayers (polycrystalline), c) manganese perovskite thin films. All types of sensor are based on giant magnetoresistivity. Microelectronic patterning will be exploited to pattern these systems into magneto-sensors of micrometer size to achieve low active volume of the sensors and very high spatial resolution. Multisegment sensors will be also developed and employed for microscale magnetic defectoscopy, e.g., of HTC superconductors or nanocrystalline magnetic alloys. Basic magnetic properties controlling the magnetoresistive performance will be studied on all three types of thin film structures by ferromagnetic resonance, static (SQUID) magnetometry, magnetooptical methods and Moessbauer spectroscopy."@en .
