"The subject of research is the analysis of genetic determination of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Monitored will be the genes/markers (FTO, KIF6, MRAS and markers on chromosomes 2, 3 and 9) that were connected with CVD in pilot studies, despite the fact that they do not have any relation to classic risk factors and the mechanism of influence on CVD development is unknown. Analyzed will be approximately 1000 CVD patients without classic risk factors (dyslipidaemia, hypertension, smoking, obesity and diabetes) and the same number of selected controls without CVD, but with the presence of these risk factors. Compared will be not only individual variants, but also their interactions (additive or multiplicative effect), possible interactions with environmental factors (BMI, smoking). The identification of these genetic predispositions will enable timely finding of seemingly healthy but in reality risk individuals so far escaping identification by common schemes for risk estimate."@en . .
