The outcome in non-lesional cases remains unsatisfactory and one of the crucial steps is the ability to better identify the epileptogenic zone. In the absence of any obvious lesion, this area is defined mainly by the results of intracranial recording. The visual assessment is highly demanding and relatively subjective. However, the precise identification of most clinically significant phenomena can be achieved by digital signal processing. The main objective of the proposed project is to establish the diagnostic protocol for intracranial EEG evaluation and develop the algorithm for digital signal processing of intracranial recording. We hypothesize that not individual markers but weighted ranking of multiple markers will be of higher predictive value in delineation of the epileptogenic zone. If successful, this technique may decrease morbidity and improve outcome in patients undergoing epilepsy surgery."@en .
