"The project is focused on patients with locally advanced rectal cancer and the aim is to identify gene expression profile of these tumors (in vivo). It is clearly demonstrated that biological correlates of gene expression are identifiable, therefore combining microarrays analysis with clinicopathological data, we are able to identify gene expression profiles relating to respond to a given therapy. The ability to provide the individualized therapy is based on existence of strong predictive molecular markes. We expect that by using these profiles to minimalize adverse effects and to achieve the highest quality of live of patients with rectal cancer."@en .
