"Some injuries of the spinal cord frequently result in severe consequences leading to permanent disability. The loss of a large number of neuronal elements, tissue scarring and limited possibilities for regeneration lead to the pathological remodeling of spinal cord tissue and subsequent atrophy. Extensive preclinical studies in rats have shown that transplanted bone marrow stem cells survive in the injured spinal cord, migrate to a lesion site and lead to axonal regeneration and improved motor and sensory function. This has been achieved by the implantation of both hematopoetic and bone marrow mesenchymal cells. The aim of this study is: 1. to use bone marrow stem cells to support spinal cord tissue regeneration directly at the lesion site by implantation of all nuclear cells (current clinical study), 2. to introduce autologous bone marrow mesenchymal cell cultivation into clinical use, verify its safety and develop protocols complying with EU GMP standards."@en . .
