"The project will investigate an uncertain pathophysiological background of the phenomenon of heart-rate turbulence (HRT), the absence of which was validated as independent and strongest mortality predictor in myocardial infarction survivors. Computer analysis of instant fluctuations of heart rate, arterial pressure, stroke and lung volume will be performed under partial and complete autonomic blockade, in the model of denervated heart and during programmed electrical stimulation. The identification of non-baroreflex-related component of HRT, which hypothetically bears the additional predictive power of HRT, would be of great practical importance. The proposed project will also address the methodological aspects of the detection of HRT.
