"We propose a joint effort to study polyelectrolytes as a function of dielectric constant using the temperature dependent properties of amide type solvents. This type of solvents has a dielectric constant similar or larger than that of water that furthermore is strongly temperature dependent. The joint effort will combine expertise from the Stepanek group from the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry (IMC) at Prague in the Czech Republic and from the Seery Research group in the Polymer Program at the University of Connecticut (UC). The outcomes of this work will be twofold: we will increase our understanding of the properties of polyelectrolytes in solution at a fundamental level and we will extend the technique of dynamic light scattering to take advantage of the increased processing power available in modern computers. The object of this collaborative effort is to explore the dependencies of polyelectrolyte properties in solution on molecular weight, polymer concentration and concentration and"@en . . . "5"^^ .
