We have developed and used diagnostic procedures based on PCR and quantitative PCR methods to detect these viruses and evaluate their prevalence in pigs and quantify these viruses in the blood, saliva and feces."@en . . "Porcine TT virus (genus Anellovirus, family Circoviridae) is newly discovered infectious agent. The estimated prevalence of TT virus in pigs is very high and some observations indicate that the virus plays an important role in the pathogenesis of mixed infections. Possible zoonotic potential of TT virus represent an important risk for xenotransplantations and for transmission in the food chain. The goal of the project is the elucidation of some aspects of TT virus pathogenesis. We plan to quantify viremia by real-time PCR technique in different age categories of pigs, determination of virus spread, and identification of target cells for primary and secondary replication. Recombinant capsid protein of TT virus will enable us to assess the dynamics of serological response in naturally infected pigs."@en .
