"The main goal is to develop an efficient system of reproductioon of commercially valuable species such as common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and tench (Tinca tinca) using manipulation with germ cells (PGCs/spermatogonia/oogonia). We will transplant isolated germ celss into closely related species characteristic by small body size, easy maintainance, easy reproduction, short reproduction cycles, such as zebrafish (Danio rerio) or minnow (Tanichtys slbonubes). Our aim is to study migration of PGCs and methods of cryoconservation of PGCs/spermatogonia/oogonia. Development of methods of PGCs/spermatogonia/oogonia transplantation has a potential to enable surrogate production based on cryopreserved germ cells for recovery of lost genetic resources instead of reproduction using cryopreserved sperm.
