Montane forest species are thus often found along one cordillera (cis-Andean distribution), whereas species from above-forest habitats are often distributed across cordilleras (trans-Andean distribution). To test the hypothesis that species from different vegetation belts have different migration history, we propose a phylogeographic study of three widely distributed Andean species of the genus Lasiocephalus. These species are representative of the montane forest, grass p\u00E1ramo, and superp\u00E1ramo habitats.
