The auxin concentration pattern depends on its active transport by means of trans-membrane transporters belonging to the PIN family. The PIN protein function was shown to be regulated at the level of protein turn-over, plasmatic membrane localization and direct inhibition of the carrier activity. However, little attention was given to the factors driving transcription of PIN genes. The goal of this project is to identify the players responsible for specific expression of particular PIN genes in a limited set of cells that can change in effect of environmental clues and developmental switches. The discovered regulatory elements present in the PIN gene sequences as well as the interacting transcription factors will be characterized at the molecular and cell levels and their effect upon the plant development and its ability to respond to environment signals."@en . . . . . .
