"The progress in molecular genetics enables a direct identification and analysis of genes influencing performance of farm animals. The proposed project is focused on study of candidate genes for muscle development in pigs. The aim of the project is the analysis of their cDNA structure, molecular structure of the gene including identification of polymorphisms and mapping (linkage mapping;RH- mapping). The selected polymorphisms will undergo evaluation of QTL effects. The analysis of cDNA from different tissues will be aimed at the potential tissue-specific expression and the alternative splicing of transcripts. Using real-time PCR, the expression of candidate genes will be examined in porcine skeletal muscles in various stages of life \u201340-45-day-old foetus, piglets (3d old) and adult pigs (150-180d old). The research will reveal new findings of structure and expression of genes in skeletal muscle of pigs. It will improve the knowledge of genetic determination of meat production in pigs."@en .
