" cyclooxygenase inhibitors" . "The main idea of the project is to study the reduction mechanism of pharmacologically important drugs - cyclo-oxygenase-2 inhibitors in the presence of cyclodextrins. Cyclodextrins with different hydrophobicity of their interior nanocavity and thus with different ability to form host-guest complexes will be used. The hydrophobic character of the cavity can influence not only reaction rates of redox processes studied but also individual steps of the degradation mechanism of selected drugs. In addition to a direct modification of the reaction environment by the complex formation with cyclodextrins the effect of adsorption properties of drugs and their complexes with cyclodextrins at the heterogeneous interface on the electrochemical properties of selected drugs will be studied. A practical contribution of this proposal is outlined in the study of complexes of pharmacologically important drugs and their reactive intermediates with cyclodextrins that can improve their bioavailability."@en .
