"The aim of this project is the development of microfluidic systems (microchips) and their use for multidimensional separations focused on bioanalytical applications. Microfludic devices will be created in glass substrates using photolithography followed by wet chemical etching and thermal bonding. Prepared microfluidic devices will be used for applications involving electromigration and chromatographic separations of proteins and peptides. Two separation systems will be tested. One system will be designed for operation in the free flow electrophoresis mode with the potential use as a prefractionation device for MALDI mass spectrometry.
