"The project is focused on mathematical modeling of fluid-structure interaction in human vocal folds. The viscous flow will be modeled by non-stationary incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, which must be, due to the fact that the computational domain deforms in time by the vocal fold motion, reformulated in Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) approach. The equations will be numerically solved by the finite element method. The model will include realistic geometry, boundary conditions and interaction between the flow and the elastic vocal fold. Different mesh generators will be tested. The equations in 2D can be in future extended into 3D. The non-stationary position of the flow separation point and the flow features like vortex shedding or jet reattachment in different modes will be studied.
