The experience and know-how of the partner laboratories will open up a new research direction based on original methods for analysis of DNA and proteins combining nanotechnology, microfluidics and electrochemistry. The research of the nanostructures will be directed towards surface enhanced analytical performance using nanoporous substrates, magnetic particles and carbon nanotubes. Additionally, Au, Hg and/or amalgam modified surfaces will be used for preparation of self-assembled monolayers with electrochemical detection. The nanostructures will be utilized for immobilization of detection probes, testing of chemical interactions after the surface modification and for improvement of sensitivity and selectivity of detection. Applications will be focused on biosensors of DNA damage and on research of proteins important in neurodegenerative diseases and cancer."@en .
