"The proposers team has created an original method for a %22non-charging%22 scanning electron microscopy of non-conductive speciment, based on utilization of the critical energy at which the impacting and emitted currents equal. We also designed and verified a method of measurement of the critical energy by means of recording the videosignal vs. time dependence caused by charging. In the frame of a grant project, the mothod was verified on an experimental equipment, including principles of computer control enabling one to implement the above method into micriscopical practice. The aim of this project is to elaborate the method to a level corresponding to a modern electron microscope. This includes redesigning the electron optical assembly of the cathode lens and its experimental verification, and particularly develepment of algorithms for energy measurement, data processing and image acquisition, suitable for use in the environment of a fully computer-controlled microscope."@en .
