Our aim is to quantify key environmental gradients responsible for heterogeneous distribution of taxa and hybrid dominance - food (phytoplankton), size-selective fish predation, and parasites - and evaluate their relative importance. We will obtain data on the spatial distribution of planktivorous fish along the reservoir length, and analyse their food composition. Daphnia in fish stomachs will be analysed genetically (using allozymes and ITS-RFLP), results will be compared with the composition and genetic structure of pelagic populations.
