There are three main lines of research which we would like to follow during the grant period on muscle motor endplate a) Synchronization of quanta release and its modulation by second messenger pathways in connection with cholinergic autoreceptors, aa) extent and regulation of the vesicular and non vesicular (non-quantal) neurotransmitter release in hibernators and in knock-out cholinesterase- defficient mice, and aaa) desensitization of receptors studied either on intact synapse or on genetically modified cultured cells with embryonic and adult nicotinic receptors.
