"In polymeric materials several levels of structural hierarchy can be distinguished starting from molecular architecture through supermolecular morphology up to macroscopic defects of the structure. The aim of this project is to assess and explain the mutual interrelations of these structural levels and their joint effect on the macroscopic mechanical behavoir. In particular, the feedback relationshipbetween macromolecular processes and morphology rearrangements in polypropylene derived materials and some other semicrystalline polymers will be studied using mechanical tests, microscopy, X-ray diffraction, sound propagation, acoustic emission, positron annihilation and other contemporary structure-sensitive methods."@en .
