"The aim of the project is to propose and verify a new predictive scheme for the modulus (or compliance, yield and tensile strength of ternary polymer blends. The scheme combines a two-parameter equivalent box model and data on the continuity of phases obtained from universal equations of percolation theory: it takes into account 1) respective properties of all components, 2) discontinuity or co-continuity of present phases and, 3) debonding at existing interfaces. Phase structures anticipated for the minimum of the Gibbs energy will be checked by scanning or transmission electron microscopy. The scheme can be utilized for 1) prediction of the mechanical properties of blends, 2) evaluation of interfacial debonding, 3) estimate of the achieved exploitation of the potential system properties and 4) semiquantitative analysis of the phase structures."@en . .
