"As potential applications of a new candidate material are frequently predermined by its mechanical and other physical properties, it is desirable to anticipate relevant properties of new materials as functions of their composition. For this end. we have proposed a new predictive format for polymer blends combining an equivalent box model and modofied equatins of the percolation theory. An essential feature of this approach is that physical properties of a blend are predicted simultaneously being related to a phase structure through an identical set of inpur parameters. So far the format predicts modulus of elasticity, storage modulus, loss modulus, compliance, permeability to gases, yield strength and tensile strangth of polymer blends. As the format is relatively simple, implemented calcutaions substituting for experiments may bring exxential savings in blend projection being much faster than corresponding experimental procedures."@en .
