"The aim of the project consists in understanding the effect of inhomogeneities on formation, structure and properties of polymer networks. Inhomogenous networks with well defined heterogeneities will be prepared and the effect of structure, cimpactness of the inhomogeneity and the interaction with apolymer network will be follwed. Heterogenous networks will be synthesized (a) from molecular building blocks (polysilsesquioxane cage structure) or precursors of crosslinking (micronetworks, hyperbranched polymers) and (b) by in situ formation of domains (inhomogeneities) during networks crosslinking (bimodal networks with regions of higher and lower crosslinking densities or organic-inorganic hybrids). Besides permanent heterogeneities also physical temporary inhomogenous systems will be studied.
