"This proposal represents a theoretical complement to a current and a pending experimental projects of the applicant group. The current project resulted in a database of the partition coeficients of substituted phenols in water-carbon dioxide system. The pending project has been concerned with the development of instrumentation and methodology of pressurised fluid extraction. The purpose of the present proposal has been the selection of optimum thermodynamic models to describe the phase equilibria involved. To this end, the applicant group will employ (cubic) equations of state and linear solvation energy relationships (LSER). A part of the computer routines needed will be (or have already been) developed by the applicant group. The remaining part of the calculations, namely the optimisations of binary interaction parameters for the equations of state the description of PVT behaviour of pure solvents, will employ computer programs developed by others."@en . . . .
