"West Sudetes are heterogeneous mosaics of autonomous units - terranes - amalgamated during the Variscan collision of Saxolusatia and Perunica. The original relationships were subsequently modified by final docking of both microplates to Avalonia/Baltica/Brunovistulia and late Variscan strike-slip movements. The West Sudetic terranes form orogenic wedges between the Cadomian forelands both on the NW (Saxolusatia) and on the E (Brunovistulicum) separated by deep seated central orogenic root. The project purpose is to identify individual terranes, characterize the protoliths and pre-collisional pre-Variscan history as well as Variscan orogenic wedge developments. The Je\u0161t\u011Bd Range Unit is an unique example where it is possible to study pre-collisional relationships of the Late Proterozoic to Late Palaeozoic sequences and Variscan compressional phases of development."@en .
