"The main aim is to design and build up an optical frequency standard based on semiconductor laser stabilized on hyperfine lines of molecular iodine. A commercially available single-mode laser diode emitting close to the wavelength of 633 nm of He-Ne laser will be used. The linewidth of the laser source will be reduced by tuneable external rezonator consisting of diffraction grating and external mirror. One of the laser facets must be antireflection coated. The long term stability and reproducibilitywill be ensured by locking the output frequency to one of the hyperfine components of the iodine absorption spectra using third or higher derivative techniques. Attention will be payed to broad frequency tuneability of the system. Progressive approach tothe design of the detection chain and stabilizing servo-loop will be based on the digital signal processing techniques.
