"The principal task of the proposed project is to contribute to deeper understanding of the basic relations between the stabilitz of the magnetic structures of compounds with layered crystal structures and the anisotropic magnetovolume phenomena. To reach this aim the combined experimental and theoretical studies will be performed. Mainly single crystals will be used to measure the macroscopic characteristics (magnetization, magnetostriction, thermal expansion and electrical resistivity) under high hydrostatic and uniaxial pressures. The studies will be completed by the determination of magnetic structures by neutron diffraction and experiments on hydrides where possible. The existing high pressure equipment of the Laboratory of high pressures of the IOP AS CR will be completed by the uniaxial pressure cell to be used in SQUID magnetometer and PPMS systems that are installed in the JLMS of IOP AS CR and FMP CU.PhD students will benefit from participation in the project."@en .
