"Hidden diversity in the genus Synura (Stramenopiles): quantifying diversity and organizing functional properties in a meaningful fashion"@en . "5"^^ . "The project is focused on the investigation of hidden diversity within the two selected species complexes of the genus Synura displaying high morphological plasticity: S. petersenii and S. spinosa. To better understand and quantify the diversity within the genus, I will combine the phylogenetical (molecular data analyses), phenotypic (both traditional and modern landmark-based morphometric methods) and biological (reproductive isolation) approaches to clearly define and delimit particular species. Additionally, I will trace the ecological preferences of the species in interest. With knowledge of the phenotype and ecology, the biological information could be organized in a meaningful fashion.
