"Project is focused on basic research in the preparation and detection of organic monolayers on the nanodiamond (NCD) with a defined surface morphology in order to achieve continuous and stable coverage for biosensor applications. Functionalization of nanodiamond surface will be carried out chemically, photochemically and from gas phase using thermal and plasma activated processes. The weak optical absorption of molecular monolayers on NCD films and functional groups on diamond nanoparticles will be detected by highly sensitive methods of the infrared optical absorption spectroscopy developed during the project. Will be modelled the impact of angle of incidence and the polarization of light on reflective spectra of NCD films deposited on metallic substrates in order to increase the optical reflectivity and increase sensitivity of the grazing angle reflectance method. Modelled results will be compared with measured spectra. NCD films will be grown on Ge prism to develop a reliable ATR prism as a powerful alternative for the study of functionalized diamond surfaces."@en .
