"The proposed research project focuses on investigation of the metastable fluids for technical applications, especially on metastable water and metastable aqueous solutions. The metastability plays an important role in natural processes and in many industrial applications (energy production, turbomachinery, cooling). Both a theoretical and experimental study of the surface properties\u00A0of metastable fluids will be performed in this project. In the theoretical part, the surface tension of water and aqueous solutions will be predicted in terms of the density Gradient Theory (GT) combined with the equation of state (EoS) based on the Statistical Associating Fluid Theory (SAFT). In the experimental part, an apparatus will be designed and manufactured for the measurement of surface tension\u00A0of pure liquids and binary mixtures. The measurement will focus especially on subzero temperatures, i.e. on surface tension of water and aqueous solutions under the metastable condition.
