Nowadays, the effective acaricidal compounds for their suppression are missing or forbidden. Therefore this project is focused on searching for novel acaricidal compounds. Their practical impact is (a) in the construction of genetically modified plants having crops resistant to stored product mites; (b) in the preparation of recombinant the acaricidal virus toxicity to house-dust mites. Therefore acaricidal activity will be screened on (i) inhibitors of mite amylases and proteases and (ii) chitin effectors (chitinase, calcofluor, difluorbenzuron). Their suppressive effect will be evaluated on model house-dust and stored-product mites in vivo and in vitro. The damage of pertirophic membrane by effect of chitin effectors will be observed by microanatomical methods.
