The reason is that newly recognized priority POPs which are in environmentalistic focus and can be found in soils in significant concentrations, are not still ecotoxicologically characterized, especially with respect to soil organisms. As model pollutants are chosen: polychlorinated paraffins (industrial chemicals), PeCB (related to pesticide application), and azaarenes (industrial by-products). Following tests are included in the batery: effects on soil microorganisms, nematoda, enchytraeids, earthworms, springtails. These tests are well known and standardized in the world.
