For the elucidation of biochemical processes of reproduction, wepaid a special attention to the structure and function of proteins of boar reproductive tract that interact with the sperm surface. The presented project is focused on two reproduction phases - sperm epididymal maturation and primary sperm-egg binding, in which the role of sperm surface proteins is not fully understood. Proteins of epididymal fluid will be separated by different chromatographic and electrophoretic methods and characterized by immunological and zymographic methods. Besides, sperm surface proteins of organism Xenopus laevis will be characterized and their properties will be compared with those of boar spermadhesins.
