Humans and other mammals are affected (virus is causal agent of the West Nile Fever) but apparently do not constitute a reservoir. The overall aim of the proposed research is to improve our understanding of the ecological aspects and distribution of the possible vectors of WNV in the Czech Republic. Presented study is proposed, that will improve knowledge of WNV and their vectors in theCR and could help in prevention against vector-born diseases. The specific objectives are: (i) To determine the distribution and relative importance of different mosquito species (and other species of Diptera) that could play a role in disease transmission. (ii) To conduct a study of the ecological interactions of mosquitoes from genus Culex and their vertebrate hosts (birds and mammals including humans) around ponds in South Bohemia. (iii) To determine prevalence and incidence rates of WNV"@en . "2005-01-01+01:00"^^ . "GP206/05/P045" . .
