"The main aim of this project is to globally analyze fields of meteorological variables within geopotential levels from 1000 to 10 hPa by the pseudo-2D wavelet transform. We will utilize all capabilities of the transform (temporal and frequency slices, spatial statistics, analysis of phase) and we will develop efficient algorithms of the transform application. The transform will be applied on particular climatic quantities at various geopotential levels in order to describe the frequency patterns thoroughly with their temporal development. We will examine the datasets acquired from the reanalysis projects NCEP/NCAR and ERA-40; the results will be mutually compared. The outcomes of this project should improve our knowledge of the regular climate variations and they should also point to possible governing processes of the oscillations.
