"The fundamentals of this two years project are proteomic analysis of selected cancer cell lines with acquired resistance to anticancer derivatives of vitamin E, especially to vitamin E succinate - ?-TOS. In vitro, ?-TOS exhibits higher toxicity to cancercell lines than to normal cell lines and also exhibits antiangiogenic activity in selected endothelial cell lines. ?-TOS does not lose its qualities even in in vivo conditions. Considering its nonimmunosuppressive character ?-TOS may become a very kind and promising anticancer drug against certain kinds of tumours. Clarification of the cause of acquired resistance or sensitivity of certain cell lines to ?-TOS or another toxic derivatives of vitamin E maybe very helpful for making the possible therapy more efficient.
