"Double-strand DNA breaks (dsb) induced by ionizing radiation represent a serious damage of the genome, which can lead to neoplastic transformation if not repaired properly. Disclosure of dsb-reparation mechanisms is therefore very important for our better understanding to oncogenic transformation and for streamlining of tumor radiotherapy. Recently we have observed a centripetal movement of centromeres in the nucleus after gamma irradiation, which may relate with dsb-reparation. It follows from ourprevious results that chromatin structure and its nuclear topology plays an important role in regulation of gene expression, cell differentiation and emergency of tumor diseases.
