Complicated life-style of streptomycetes (morphological and physiologicaldifferentiation in the course of their life cycle, advanced intercellular communication, etc.) requires the presence of complicated regulatory circuits. Thus, identification of over 30 potential eukaryotic protein kinase genes and 6 WD-repeat proteinencoding genes in the genom of Streptomyces coelicolor was not a surprise. The aim of the project is to characterize two of these WD-40 genes (wdpB and wdpC, that contains an extra protein Ser/Thr kinase catalytic domain). The project encompasses mainly:(a) monitoring of the genes expression during the life-cycle with the help of specific antibodies and RNA-based methods, (b) characterization of the WdpC protein kinase activity, (c) study of the genes influence on the cells phenotype using targeted"@en .
