"The complexly oriented project focuses on a basic research in developing new class of protective layers for building materials based on polymeric nanofibers. Starting aim will be the categorization of chemically aggressive pollutants causing a degradation of standardly used building materials (in particular, concretes and plasters). Thin films consisting of suitable polymer-based nanofibers will be prepared using NANOSPIDER device (in Center for Nanotechnologies, CTU in Prague). These systems will be further hydrophobized/hydrophilized using advanced plasmatic technologies. Basic structural and physicochemical properties (morphology of protective layers, composition, wetting angles, etc.) will be measured by use of various types of microscopes (optical, SEM, AFM), micro-Raman spectroscopy and reflection goniometer. Moisture absorption and hydrophobic properties will be determined using standard devices at Dept. of Physics (FCE CTU Prague).
