"The topic of the proposed grant project is an etymological analysis of viticultural and vinicultural terminology in the Central European area. The object of the research will be terminological systems used in regions with a long tradition of grape-growing and wine-making in South Moravia and South-West Slovakia, which will be confronted with equivalent terminological units of the German and Hungarian nomenclature attested in the same language area in North-East Austria and North-West Hungary. On the basis of an etymological and contact-linguistic analysis of the Czech and Slovak terms of the selected subject field, the project will investigate language contacts inside the Central European language area, and on its background also the development of cultural-historical relationships between speakers of the participating languages."@en .
