"In the frame of the proposed project I intend to study diffusion-modified (i.e. nitriding, carbonitriding) surfaces with thin films of different compositions and characteristics. Firstly , the effect of chemical diffusion in interphase regions and its impact on mechanical properties of such systems will be investigated. Czech standard (CSN) steel grades 19 802 and 19 830, low-carbon 12 010, 12 050 and steels intended for such treatment, e.g. 14 220 will be used as substrates. The deposition process will be controlled with regard to previously modified surface state. Influence of underlying titanium layer on diffusion processes affecting this interlayer and mechanical properties will be examined. Influence of diffusion upon adhesive-cohesive behaviour of films will be analyzed by means of scratch-test, pin-on-disk and indentation methods. Acquired values will serve for optimization of both nitriding and deposition processes to improve final properties of machine parts in service."@en .
