The main purpose of this project is to extend laser technology by preparation of gradual active layers(GAL) for planar chemical sensors. The gradual active layers are layers containing basic material with gradient of dopant concentration. Using GAL brings following advantages: 1) Gradient of dopant concentration enables suitable formation of electricfield intensity in the layer in order to detect even very low concentration of atmosphere contaminants. 2) It is also possible to increase %22surface%22 sensitivity of GAL and hence to enhance detection of low concentrations. 3) The GAL layers exhibit higherstability typical for %22thick%22 layers together with high sensitivity of %22thin%22 layers.
