This modelling is important for a solution of many demanding engineering problems such as a concept of an underground disposal of spent nuclear fuel. In this project, boundary problems describing coupled mechanical and thermal processes in a rock environment will be solved. High requirements of solving such problems consist in searching for physical fields on large 3D domains and long time intervals. It leads to huge requirements on computer time and to the necessity of searching for efficient numerical methods, which can be implemented on modern computer architectures. Therefore, the main work will be the study of numerical methods suitable for parallel implementations and development of corresponding solvers.
