"The main aim of this project was the study of processes around the acid-base boundary in spatially micro- and nanostructurized systems under influence of an external electric field. As the model system, the electrolyte diode has been used, a microsystem"@en . "In this project we shall study processes taking place around the acid-base boundaries in spatially micro- and nano-structured systems under the influence of external electric field. The electrolyte diode has been chosen as a suitable experimental system.Different construction materials and designs of the diode as well as of the separation membrane will be used and their influence on the behaviour of the system will be analyzed. The same system will be studied by means of mathematical modelling. Preliminary studies show that the use of assumptions common on a macro scale (such as the local electroneutrality assumption, instantaneous local dissociation and recombination equilibria), on a micro-scale may lead to results inconsistent with reality. A part of the project will be therefore devoted to the development and testing of new models for such systems. The understanding of reaction and transport processes in micro-channels around the separation semi-permeable membrane in principle will allow"@en . .
