"Structural properties of trabecular bone play an important role in bone quality assessment. Bone quality is a term associated with fracture risk and together with other factors, such as bone mineral density (BMD), architecture, volume fraction and\u00A0microdamage infuences its fracture resistibility.Mechanical loading causes structural changes in trabecular bone microstructure leading to further changes in the stress state. Microdamage is known to be one of the bone remodelling stimuli which in case of local overloading causes osteoclastic activity.The aim is to develop experimental techniques to enable assessment of\u00A0the influence of the structural properties of the microstructure of trabecular bone on the overall mechanical properties of the bone tissue. Small specimens of trabecular bone will be studied using compressive, tensile and torsional testing.
